The Commissions Process
To start, I ask for a few basics: the desired size and subject matter, the color palette (if you have one in mind), and any other pieces in my portfolio you’d like me to draw inspiration from
I share 1-2 watercolor sketches before starting on the larger piece to make sure we are on the same page. And I’ll produce 1 revised sketch after the initial sketches (if needed)
Reference photos are especially helpful if I’m asked to paint a specific place, so please share them if you have them available
At this time, I paint mostly landscapes. I may entertain a request for another type of painting, but only if my limited commission schedule allows
Payment
Once we agree on the basics, I ask for a 50% deposit, with the remainder due at the completion of your painting.
I charge slightly more for commissions than I do for my ready-to-ship pieces, which accounts for my time putting together a piece that meets all of your requests.
